Wayne Vandenburg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Wayne Vandenburg was involved with the formation of the family’s real estate investment and management platform beginning in 1983 when he founded the initial operating company and formed the first investment partnership in conjunction with the platform’s initial real property acquisition. From that initial transaction, Mr. Vandenburg gained extensive domestic and international corporate experience as well as property operating, management and investment experience; he has traveled extensively to speak at numerous domestic and international real estate conferences and to meet with institutional investors in the US, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, the UAE, and the Persian Gulf countries to discuss both operating strategies, corporate governance, industry standards, and investment opportunities.  Mr. Vandenburg has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Multifamily Housing Council (“NMHC”), as well as a member of the Multifamily Blue & Green Councils of the Urban Land Institute (“ULI”), the Real Estate Round Table, the Pension Real Estate Association (“PREA”) and the Mortgage Bankers Association.  During the period 2000 through 2007, he additionally founded and developed the Coldwell Banker Europe platform as the master franchisor for residential & commercial real estate services in Europe and along with local country partners developed the franchise operating organizations in France, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Poland and Malta in addition to building an asset management organization in Europe to support American-styled multifamily housing communities across Europe.  Furthermore, the holding company he headed made a significant investment in DB Immobilien, a nine (9) office commercial & residential real estate services platform operating across Germany, and later acquired a major real estate property and facility management services company headquartered in Prague with operations in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic from a European commercial and residential development company; he currently oversees this Prague-based company which is the premier property and facility manager of HOA’s for local and international developers of upscale residential developments.  Mr. Vandenburg, a native of Chicago, is a graduate of the University of New Mexico (“UNM”) in Albuquerque where he attended undergraduate and graduate school and earned his B.S. Degree in Education.  Soon thereafter, he served as the Head Track & Field Coach as well as the Head Cross Country Coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (“UTEP”) after first serving as the Graduate Assistant Track & Field Coach at his alma mater, UNM.  Mr. Vandenburg is a member of several Halls of Fame based upon his coaching record and contributions to Track & Field.  Later, he served in a number of administrative, executive and consulting roles within the professional sports arena; specifically with the International Volleyball Association (“IVA”), he was a League Founder & Board Member as well as the Team President/General Manager of the IVA’s El Paso/Juarez Sol; President/CEO of the AA Texas League Baseball Team, the El Paso Diablos; the National Football League’s (“NFL”) Dallas Cowboys where he performed special assignment work as an advisor/consultant related to player evaluation and free agent recruitment; and professional track & field with the International Track Association (“ITA”) where he was involved in selecting athletic personnel, overseeing meet operations at each competitive venue as well as leading event & tour sponsorship functions and coordinating youth seminars in behalf of General Foods/Post Cereals while additionally performing as the Master of Ceremonies/Public Address Announcer for professional track & field events both indoors & outdoors across the US and Canada.  Mr. Vandenburg currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the USA Track & Field Foundation (“USATFF”), the organization that financially supports and supplements the income of US elite and podium athletes via the Stephen A. Schwarzman Awards and other USATFF fund-raising platforms.  The Schwarzman financial awards are significant and are designed to help support the training and focus of elite athletes who have demonstrated the potential to be, or have already earned, podium-status as members of the US Olympic and/or World Track & Field Championship Teams.  Mr. Vandenburg is headquartered in Dallas and regularly commutes to Chicago while traveling extensively to both domestic and international destinations in behalf of the company and serves as the Chairman of VDB’s Supervisory Board.
